Art Deco Inspired Travel Poster
With this travel poster, I took inspiration from the era of Art Deco design, a style that represented luxury and glamour. Starting from a photograph of the Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea, I simplified and flattened the forms using large blocks of color. Typical of the Art Deco style, I used a typeface with low crossbars and letters based in geometry, but also incorporated a modern sans serif to keep the design somewhat contemporary and to prevent the tagline from competing with the larger text. The poster design also features a slight grain and gentle gradients, as were often seen in Art Deco.
Full size is 24" x 36".
