An Initiative Mobilizing Canadians to Shape our Urban Future
“Whenever and wherever societies have flourished and prospered, rather than stagnated and decayed, creative and workable cities have been at the core of the phenomenon.” – Jane Jacobs
Canada’s prosperity and quality of life is directly tied to the health of our cities. Our national and provincial policies should be reflective of the needs and interests of cities – where 85% of Canadians currently live – but right now, this is not the case.
We Are Cities is a campaign to change this. By engaging Canadians in the co-creation of a policy action agenda for cities, We Are Cities aims to reveal new insights into the challenges we face and identify a path forward for cities to achieve resilience, prosperity and inclusivity.
archiTEXT is leading the National Citizen Engagement and the Process Design for the We Are Cities campaign. This includes designing the processes and toolkits for citizen engagement, building networks of supporters and local facilitators across the nation, and supporting the strategy to harvest knowledge from Canada's citybuilding community to inform the agenda.
archiTEXT is working alongside partners at Evergreen CityWorks, the Cities for People Initiative, and Groundforce Digital to bring this project to life.
