Belo Horizonte, nossa Belô, recentemente reviveu a tradição do carnaval de rua, contando com vários blocos diferentes.
Belo Horizonte, a Brazilian city commonly called by its inhabitants "Belô" has lately revived the tradition of having what we call "street carnival". Differently from the carnival of Rio de Janeiro, we don't have big parades, but many "blocos", which are music bands that play on the streets, making a music procession that walks from one place of the city to another. There are many blocos in Belo Horizonte and some of them are portrayed in this book.
Ébelô – Território comum / Fragmentos do carnaval de rua de Belo Horizonte é um registro fotográfico do carnaval de rua de 2014. Este é o primeiro livro a documentar alguns de nossos bloquinhos em ação. O livro conta com fotografias de 7 fotógrafos e textos de 6 pessoas muito envolvidas com o carnaval da cidade.
Ébelô – Common territory / Fragments of Belo Horizonte's street carnival is a photographic register of Belo Horizonte's 2014 street carnival. It is the first book to document our blocos in action. 7 photographers have their pictures featured in the book and 6 people who are very much engaged with the city's carnival were invited to write about it.
