Few design opportunities match the profound political and cultural importance of the Olympics Games. NBC approached Clickspring Design in 2013 to design the first new Olympic broadcast environments in decades. Several elements defined the environments including: the NBC’s Olympic broadcasting legacy, modern technologies, American culture and athleticism and branding of the Sochi Olympic Committee, the International Olympic Committee and NBC Sports. Culminating a rigorous research and design process, two studios were built and shipped to Sochi, Russia. Both studios feature cutting edge technology, including the first ever floor mounted LED for an American broadcaster. NBC’s Sochi Olympic studios were nominated for a Daytime News + Documentary Emmy for “Best Broadcast Environment and Production” in 2015.
