Photoshoot: Miss Leicester 2014/15

7 hour studio workshop with Miss Leicester 2014/15 (Victoria Thornewell) at the Phlash Worx studio in Royal Leamington Spa allowed me to improve upon my overall studio photography skills, including specific lighting techniques and most importantly model direction.
Lighting set ups include, Butterfly, Loop & Rembrandt along with Kickers, soft box, beauty dish and the ever present reflector.
Thank you goes to Victoria Thornewell, Trevor Davis and Stephanie Branch.
Beauty Photography: Butterfly lighting, having the model engage with the audience by focusing her eyes and bring her forehead towards the camera.
Beauty Photography: Loop lighting, the model brings her shoulders toward the camera, opening up her body language and allowing her hair to lightly fall over her shoulder.
Rembrant lighting with a model lamp to light the model and hair continually from behind.
The use of soft hands against the face ensures no marking on the skin, having the model look into the main light brightens the face and eyes with the light catches and softens the overall image this time.
Rembrant lighting, still using the grid. The model leans into frame and looks up into the light to brighten the majority of her face while a reflector pick out any deep shadows on her face and arms.
Rembrant lighting using the grid to darken the left side of the photograph and throw the model into a strong spotlight. The models looks directly into the camera with deep shadowing on her face and neck making the stare stronger and more powerful.
Loop lighting in the same set up.
This is one of my favourite photographs from the shoot, it provides a stark contrast against the strong and powerful spotlight photos to a more innocent and submissive character creating many characters in one woman.
