The Forclaz 500 Mid is a comfortable hiking shoe, and on that project I wanted to give the shoe a  technical look. The previous model had been very successful for 10 years, and it was quite a challenge  to replace it.
As I designed for the previous season the new Forclaz 500 low, where I reduced the number of pieces to improve comfort, quality, and give it a nicer look and feel, I used a similar strategy here. At the same time, I applied the design laguage that was defined for this season go give the whole range a family looking. I also gave the different models in the range functionalities that are more technical on the higher end, and simplier on the entry models (for example the ankle support concept).

I additionally created a design system for the soles that can be adapted to different type of shoes for different uses, and applied on the new soles as this one.

 

As the shoe is a big success and source of pride for the team, it will be the base for future Quechua hiking shoes design.
