Class project: information design exercise using fifty (50) items from my personal vinyl record collection. My intention was to report a variety of details about the collection at a glance.
 
The diagram makes the records visually identifiable and communicates information about their musical style (vocals, machine/electronic sounds), origin (domestic or import), condition (scratched and with or without cover art), and value (my favorites/club classics). I used compound icons for the visual representation and explain their meanings in the key on the left. 

 

I broke the 1990s decade into three (3) sub-periods, the early- mid- and late-90s. Each group of icons is labeled by the period they belong to. This grouping made it easier to visually realize and describe certain facts and trends in my taste during these times (explained on the right-side of each grouping).

 

The icons are listed starting in rows preceding first from left-to-right and then downward in order of dominance of musical style, then by either condition or whether not the record had cover art.
