Department of Cultural Analysis and Theory Posters
Since both speakers had talks based on Russia, this poster draws heavily from constructivist design.  I've been unimpressed with a lot of "constructivist inspired" posters, since I think that copying exactly what the Constructivists did falls flat in the 21st century.  One could call this a new interpretation of constructivism -- using typefaces chosen for their visual similarity to 1920s Cyrillic type forms and colors common in constructivist design.
Since these speakers spoke on totally different topics, I had to reach a little further to find a unifying theme.  Eventually I settled on these two flower-like forms: one real, and one manmade; the object and the signifier.
