Im very inspired by music, most of my artworks are related to music, bands or songs. So when i saw this João Gilberto album cover i was very inspired. Then the word "Bossa" was stuck in my mind. Also i wanted to play with alliteration.
Started making rough pencil sketches playing with letterforms and flourishes. I want the letters to look like they were dancing to the sound of bossa, also the composition to remind of a guitar or bongo. With the selected composition i scan it.
With the sketch scanned i open it in Photoshop and modify and correct a few things. Then i print this rough sketch, and with a pencil i make several tweaks on top of it to improve the overall composition. So when im going to vectors i will have less work guessing and work faster.
This is the final composition with all the vectors ready. Never really ready since I keep tweaking. I try to keep my curves at the correct angles to make it easier to adjust them individually and also to keep my sanity. "Fewer Points. Happier Joints"
Tweaking here and there. Each layer is a revision.
Final artwork.
