Handwritten Letters
Handwritten letters. This is also a contrast to Typographical Postcards in which the appearance of letters can produce a contrast in how it is read. I chose to portray an ee. cummings poem; ‘i carry your heart’ in a traditional format. There are three letters which have broken the poem into three sections, each colour coded.
The idea behind my concept it a contrast to the postcards. Here I have thought about how letters are cherished and kept. I used an off-white paper stock; Pergamenta which is translucent to reinforce the idea od old and worn. I produced handdrawn victorian inspired frames to decorate the letter, framing the words inside. Each of which is faded in colour to add to the aesthetic.
The letter itself is the envelope. Through a range of folds, the letter creates the envelope it sits in, and unfolds delicately to reveal the letter in a more intimate way.
