Cartier (a 48 hour project)

In 2011, I bought a Nikon D7000—the first Nikon camera to offer HD video. Curious to learn a bit more about video, I gave myself 48 hours to shoot something.

Inspired in part by the timelapse paintings of Shayma Golden and the aesthetic of DIY skate and surf videos, set to the glitchy sounds of Hudson Mohawke, and informed largely by Greyscale Gorilla tutorials, the resulting film features Montreal's Jacques Cartier bridge—the third busiest in Canada.
