Each year, World Vision's Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs (HEA) department releases an Annual Report. For last year's 2012 report, I helped create several key graphics to help illustrate the various sectors the department works in and the new models it now uses to help mitigate and respond to global emergencies.

 

This graphic needed to clearly convey the idea that three factors were all intricately connected to building resiliency in communities to help them both prevent disaster before they happen and to be prepared to respond quickly and efficently when they do.

 

This graphic illustrates the three key area of World Vision's Next Generation Disaster Response: Managed Surge (staffing capacity), Sector Focus (various sectors centered on children focused on in the aftermath of a disaster),  and Response Systems, Structure & Decision Making (new emergency management system). Each icon had to be able to stand on its own throughout the report as well as come together to form a cohesive unit.
