This #mural (#seco) "The Healers St. St. Kozma & Damyan" is my graduation work as a monumental painter (end of 2009) in the University of Veliko Turnovo (the Visual Arts faculty).
In 2008/ 2009 I pained many #ornaments and #decorations in the church (Check out: freeze ornaments, ornaments around the main entrance, window ornaments, arch ornaments) as a part of the team of Prof. Sasho Rangelov, author of the whole project.
Still this mural is my authors work, created according to the saints` lives, the Orthodox Christian tradition & synchronized with the stylistics of the whole church.
The Etropole Monastery "Holy Trinity" (Bulgarian: Етрополски манастир „Света Троица”) is a Bulgarian Orthodox monastery near the town of Etropole in west-central Bulgaria (80 km from Sofia).
The monastery was founded in the 12th or 13th century. It includes a large mid-19th-century church and two chapels but there were no paintings on the walls up to 2008/2010. Thus all the murals are brand new, not restoration work.
I painted it in the church of Etropole Monastery "Holy Trinity", in one of the chapels, devoted to St. St. Kozma & Damyan.
The mural depicts a healing scene from the saints` lives and is a part of a project for painting the whole church.
It is approximately 5 sq. m at size and is painted at almost 6 m. height from the ground.
