I like all living creatures (OK, maybe except viruses & bad bacteria), but as a subject of my paintings I often choose those the most ordinary/not always seen as the pretty ones.
As in my previous project "Chicken can fly" I tried to show the unique beauty of the domestic, utilitarian, usually invisible heroes of an everyday life.
I am a city girl, so all of them are portraits based on a googled reference photos. And because I presumed that all them supposed to be female... I've added some softening elements like flowers, pinky stuff, painted with gold details, colorful fur etc. WHY?
Because we normal women don't like diamonds... we simply love appreciation :o]
A funny thing about a cultural differences – a pig is mainly a symbol of dirtiness in my home country (Poland). In Czech Republic (the same corner of Europe, a very similar language, our closest South neighbour + a few common historical events...)
And a surprise! There the piggy is a symbol of luck, especially financial! Not an elephant or a lady bird. So, to balance the meaning and make the picture more international... I added some four-leaf clover boardering my happy golden-haired piglet.
