Victor Bos's profile

Illustration Starters Kit

A booklet I wrote and illustrated on 'how to illustrate', based on my own experiences. Because it was based on my own experiences, the main inspiration came from old tv-shows, comic books and video game I liked. Combined with some basic items, I also customized a wooden tea box to be the packaging.

The Book (illustrations)
The book itself was a A5 size, with a illustration on one side and the text next to it.

The opening.
A chapter on the definition of illustration and what the term means.

How to begin from the beginning.

How to find the proper inspiration for an assignment and to put it together.
Finding the proper technique for the right illustration.

Working with colour and composition.
Working with illustrative typography.
How to present your work.

Dealing with the financial side.
How to find the proper connections for you to work with.

A few final words.
The End.
A shot of the printed book.
The Box

The box had a size of 29 cm x 21 cm x 8 cm. Painted it over with white, the illustrated the rest with ink and acrylics. The inside of the box had a foam mold for the items and was draped in a soft fabric. It included a mechanical pencil with refills, an eraser, an ink brush and a sketchbook.
