My contribution for the Bully Project.
    Published:
Bullying was something I had to cope with growing up, being born with Cleft Lip and Palate meant I was the different kid, the odd one out who got picked on. Now i'm older and wiser I know our differences are what make us unique, not weaker.

My project concerns the link between Bullying and the Reaction of the person being bullied.

I wish I could give my younger self some advice on how to cope with bullying.
“Don’t let them own your emotions by giving them the reaction they’re looking for”

From my experience i’ve learnt that Bullies want that reaction, they want to see they’ve affected you. So a person being bullied has some control over the situation. Can you break the chain by not reacting in the expected way? For example; ignoring them, a non emotional response, questioning their motivation.
"The Bully Project is the social action campaign inspired by the award-winning film BULLY. We’ve sparked a national movement to stop bullying that is transforming kids’ lives and changing a culture of bullying into one of empathy and action"
