The Dream Coefficient is an interactive infographic designed to visually display correlations between different variables and dream quality. Data was collected for a span of six weeks. In parallel with data collection, the concept and wireframes were developed, and the end result was a hi-fi storyboard with real data.
I wanted to design something that was very abstract and ethereal, similar to how dreams are perceived. Gradients were used for each data line.
As the user hovers over a data line, they will notice that the line is actually composed of fragments of data. Again, this concept comes from our very own dreams that tend to be fragmented. Icons and a legend appear as well, telling the user what the fragments represent.
In this storyboard, the user decides to click on February 4th's data line. The other lines fade to the bottom and numbers appear next to the icons, giving the user more detailed data of each fragment. Clicking on the icon that appears at the bottom brings the other data lines back into view.
