I started out by researching how students actually found out about events on campus. I created a TypeForm survey and gathered 115 responses from students from different campuses in Australia and the UK. This helped me define what exactly I needed to focus on with a target audience of university students.
From the survey, I concluded the following:
- “Facebook”, “Word of Mouth”, and “Campus Advertisements” are the top 3 ways students find out about events on campus.
- 79% of students surveyed found out about events through “Facebook”.
- 75% of students surveyed found out about events through “Word of Mouth”.
- Print media (posters) is still a very popular way for students to find out about uni-related events despite modern advances in technology.

- The types of events that students attend are spread evenly. “Sporting”, “Student Union Socials”, “Parties” and “Academic” were chosen by 45-65% of students surveyed.
- "Academic" - 57% and "Parties" - 49% were amoung the highest most attened events.
- The 3 common pieces of information students wish to know about events were “Are my friends going?”, “When is it?”, and “Where is it?”.
- 52% to 53% of students like to know "how many people are attending", and "who is hosting" the event.
- Surprisingly, student’s don’t seem to care too much about who/how they were invited to an event. 35% of students worry about "If they were personally invited to an event, and by who".
