This was a fantastic project. Doesnt get much more exciting a brief! T-rex parading around the city, sparking all those childhood Jurassic Park sessions.
Was awesome to bring the creature to life, fully 3d rigged, sculpted and rendered to fit perfectly within the photographic backplate! epic.
The dinosaur is rigged in the 3d software to allow movement, and to be flexible with the pose so we could get the exact pose the client wanted
The Digital Dinosaur is then posed using the virtual bone system.
The basic dinosaur shape is then sculpted using digital clay sculpting software, which lets me add extreme detail such as wrinkles, poor and expression.
The sculpted dinosaur is then lit and rendered with the exact lighting shot on location. We do this using HDR maps shot at the location the dinsoaur is to be positioned, which captures the reflections and lighting conditions on the day. This means the integration between CGI and photographic elements is seamless.
