The design started with Adrian Frutiger's Univers 65 Oblique, which was modified in response to the brutalist architecture of Paul Rudolph. This customized character was mounted, hand-cut and frozen.
The frozen form was then melted by hand with warm water.
The final photo was composed for squre format, for an instagram based voting competion.
The final "E" won the competition, voted on by design alumni and faculty at my university.
