Brief
In this project you will be exploring how through typographic arrangement you can control the reader’s eye and generate tension and harmony to support the communication. You will begin the unit with a series of workshops, which will introduce typographic conventions. Poster, Postcard and Web page, You are required to create designs that will contribute to an exhibition planned to be held at the Barbican Art Gallery in London. The exhibition is titled ‘Pioneers of Graphic Design’ and will be comprised of a series of shows on major figures within the history of graphic design. You must research your given typographer/designer and produce publicity material for the individual exhibition as well as thinking about how your work could be used to advertise the series as a whole. You could consider how the series is to be branded but this is not the main part of this brief. You must produce your designs using creative typography only. Think about the layout and expression of each individual item (postcard, poster, screen web page) and what you want each piece to communicate. Should the content / text / layout of the poster be different from the postcard? What is the purpose of the web page, what do you want to communicate to your viewer?

Below is a guide of what text should be included, but not necessarily all of the text on all items, you must decide what content is appropriate on each item.

— Heading of exhibition / title
— Sub heading
— Dates of exhibition
— Times? Prices
— Venue
— A brief paragraph which informs the audience as to what / who
 the subject matter is.

Your screen page design should be shown as a single digital screen page on your laptop which works with the existing Barbican structure
