The Urban Design of Intervention

One of many books of the architect, planner and urban designer, Peter Smith Cookson. It's a book about his writing and sketches on Asia and is divided into two sections: theory and cities.

The challege was to make the book look 'Asian' with a modern twist. I used a lot of overlapping visual effects throughout the book, e.g. headline treatment in theory section, headline treatment on the cities' name, etc. to convey an idea of the density of Asia.

Dark red, green and yellow are used to give a sense of rich heritage yet vibrate against each other which hopefully gives very unique feeling compared to other regions in the world.

This book broke a couple of records in my design life: amount of pages (460pp) and duration of the project (8 months).

The result was worth it though.
