HELLO IS THIS THE BAND- Album Design
The main idea of this project is aiming to attract people to buy the physical album in stores world-wide as also to grab the attention of collectors to get them. So practically I intended to create a special edition album cover made by recycled pizza box and convert them into the packaging itself with illustrations with it. Instead of just a CD album, I will also include a special edition vynil (black record) in the package. Within the package, I will also include some posters, a photobook with lyrics and obviously a CD. Im aiming for this album to be a collectors item as what i get in my surveys and personal observations, more than 80% of people will buy them if they were a limited edition or special edition.
The concept is basicly black and white because the band had already launce their album online and only will release their physical album this year. Thats why its black and white because its reflects as back to basics.
Eventhough the rooster is a commonly seen as an ordinary farm animal in our daily life, the rooster has various meanings in Malay culture as well as around the world.
The rooster was a universal solar symbol across Eurasia, The Near and Middle East and Europe as a bird that would dispell evil spirits as the lights of the day dispelled darkness.
The chinese also believe that the rooster symbolize the five virtues
( civil, martial, courage, kindness and confidence ). Above all, these flightless birds often undermined because of the perception of its daily use. when we think about it, in the early days, people depend on them to wake them up in the morning with their crowing.

The rooster also used in cockfights ( although it was banned in
Malaysia because of animal cruelty ) for sports. In Vietnam, fighting roosters or fighting cock are collaqually called ‘sacred chickens’.
Furthermore, when you look at them, it would remind us af the phoenix (the resemblance is uncany) because of its shape and long tail-feather.

The band consist of five member, four male and one female. What makes this band unique is their vocalist is female and their dynamic performance as thier songs and music seems to be criticize and compared to the famous international band,
PARAMORE because of how they sound and her voice.

Needless to say, the band is actually pretty big outside of
Malaysia because of the band member’s connection with their neighbouring country, Thailand.

So i’ve come out with a character design for them. The idea comes from the animated series, “ The Adventure Time ”. Why i choose to potray them as cartoon character is because i find this band is so much fun and also very serious about their career.
By combining those two attributes, these concept is suitable with them as also run along well with their album tittle DIFFERENTLY THE SAME.
