The last project we had to do was choose a person that is from the neighborhood we chose for the whole semester. My neighborhood was U Street, which is located in Washington, D.C. While doing research for my projects, I found out that the legend, Duke Ellington, was from the U Street area. Duke Ellington is known as a composer and pianist. He is also known for wearing his top hat.

 

Not only did we have to create a logo, but we had to pick three items that are related to our person and place the logo on them. MY FAVORITE PROJECT so far in graduate school. This really challenged me to dig deep down and use my creative juices. 

 

The Logo:

Since Duke Ellington was known for wearing a top hat, it was only right to add it to the logo, which is in the "D". He was also a pianist, and the "E" in Duke is piano keys. I used the negative space in the "U" and "K" for Duke's last name.
