MADE IN COLLABORATION WITH HANNA SITARZ–PIETRZAK
One of the important issues concerning the city of Katowice is the lack of a network of bicycle routes. In a city that already struggles with traffic jams, parking space and public transport an alternative means of transport (via bicycle) might improve the situation. Furthermore traveling by a bicycle is a more healthy and ecological solution. The project illustrates the current state of bicycle routes in Katowice, it reveals the inconsequence of decisions made by the responsible authorities. In effect this resulted in an incomplete network of bicycle routes – one that doesn’t allow its users to travel freely from one point in the city to another. In fact the worst situation is in the center of the city, where the most important points of interest for the inhabitants are.
The project visualizes a hypothetical solution, filling the gaps in an already existing network of bicycle routes.
It aims to inform of the present state of affairs and provides a possible extention of the already existing routes.
