Major 1000 piece exhibition by Cork based artist Tom Campbell.

The Cork based artist, Tom Campbell will be exhibiting One Thousand (1000) of his Paintings, Drawings and Sculptures at the Tactic gallery space in the former Fás building on Sullivans Quay, Cork, opening at 6pm on the 21st Oct and continuing daily from 11am to 6pm until the 29th Oct.

Tom who is originally from the town of Dumfries in Scotland has been based in Cork since 2001, and it is here in Cork that he has found his inspiration and has created some of his most exciting work. Over recent years he has received much critical acclaim and has exhibited across Ireland with shows also in Italy, France ,Catalonia and UK.His work is in homes in many corners of the globe. His most recent undertaking “The dog project” saw him and a group of 100 volunteers under his direction create 120 papier-maché dogs which were exhibited In the Camden Palace and Kinsale art festival. He is also known for his performance pieces which have entertained audiences both in Ireland and abroad.

As well as being a challenge for the artist ; exhibiting a thousand drawings this exhibition is also retrospective.The pieces drawn from the artists personal collection of paintings, sculptures and sketchbooks. The themes are often faces of clowns, animals and fantasy creatures executed in his inimitable style, with much of the work inspired by the circus.There is also a more serious side to this artist with work of a more ‘political’ nature, statements and questions.

Tom is also interested in performance ,especially the clown and mask.

Tactic is an exhibition space based in the former Government buildings, Sullivan’s Quay, Cork and is part of Sample-Studios, a shared studio space used by a range of artists, musicians and drama practitioners .
The exhibition will be opened by writer Conal Creedon at 6pm on Friday the 21st of October and there will be performances from the artist of his experimental piece the ‘tv show’ .
