Shaders - Art Academy: Sketchbook (Wii U)

I wrote the shaders in this Wii U version of the popular Nintendo art education game. Working in HLSL I implemented lots of interesting new techniques such as Directional Light Mapping, Screen Space Reflections and a high quality Bokeh Depth of Field effect.

I also wrote MAXScripts to enable and streamline the creation, exporting and lighting of assets. And I did a lot of profiling and optimisation, as well as debugging and extending the paint simulation.

More to come!
The video above shows a post-process shader I wrote to simulate a pencil sketch style effect which was overlaid onto the 3D front end.

In the early stages of the project we worked on the exterior of the cottage which acts as the front end of the game. During this I experimented with various techniques for foliage shading.
