Tehachapi was California’s first women’s prison and functioned as an experimental laboratory aimed to rehabilitate formerly "bad women”. This collateral was developed to promote an author-led discussion of Hard Time at Tehachapi, written by Cal Poly professor Kathleen Cairns. After sifting through hundreds of intriguing vintage mug shots, the final design was applied to a promotional poster, bookmark series, and digital signage displayed in the Robert E. Kennedy Library.
