THE X COLLECTION

“THE X COLLECTION” is a genderless collection designed using a range of mostly denim and chambray fabrics to create a sporty, yet neat line of children’s clothing. Some cotton jersey fabrics are used in other pieces to allow for variety and comfort in the line. The designs are inspired by the mysterious and strange creatures inhabiting deep sea and those miniscule cells that appear under a magnifying glass in such interesting and colorful forms; in short, unidentified, “X” creatures. The “X” also indicates the unidentified gender that the clothing is intended for. There is far too much focus on what is appropriate dress for different sexes. This collection is for any child who wants to wear it.

X creatures have round “bodies,” tentacle –like arms, and googly eyes. These shapes were extracted from X creatures to create a repeat print, an embroidered pattern, and a batik print. They were also used to form knee patches and a fringe-like element to certain garments for a fun detail.
