So for a class project we just had a laid back assignment about making a poster or ad. My prof. showed us examples of posters simply based on an idea or concept, and illustrating it in a unique way. I'v had an idea floating in my head for a while, about conveying the phrase "think outside the box", and I wanted to use this opportunity to see it through. It definitely changed from my original idea, but I'm happy with it! We were also required to use text in our final, and package it in InDesign to learn how to optimize our work for publication or print.

So this is how the final looked. I wanted the type to be small and almost passive, because I really feel like the image should take center stage in this, and also it almost reads like a whisper, kind of mimicking the young woman who's dreams and aspirations are slowly breaking out of their prison. She's not crushing the box at this point, just escaping from her dull reality to a place where she really wants to be, but in her mind. But as she does, that box is starting to disentigrate. Change starts in the mind, and if you think it, it becomes real! All that jazz :) 

Below are some variants of the background, because I just kinda liked how they looked, even though it paints an overall sad picture. But hey, now it's political. Now it's about the restrictions women face and how hard it is fitting into the box of what a woman is "supposed" to be. I really like how the piece takes on a secondary meaning because of this. One of my classmates remarked that it makes a pretty sweet pattern, but it sucks because the subject matter is so melancholy and kind of depressing, but the colors and the visuals do just look really nice repeated. Ah well!
