Istnieje dziesięć etapów rozmnażania tego zwierzęcia: 1. plucie, 2. zapłodnienie, 3. wyplucie, 4. zarodek, 5. rozwój wewnętrzny, 6. rozwój zewnętrzny, 7. wypustowanie, 8. plunienie, 9. wydłużanie, 10. plucie, czyli dorosły osobnik. Zwierzę składa się z takich elementów jak: wydłużnik, noga wydłużnika, substancja pluta, solidy, separatory, pompy itd.
