„The tangram is a dissection puzzle consisting of seven flat shapes, called tans, which are put together to form shapes. The objective of the puzzle is to form a specific shape using all seven pieces, which may not overlap“ (Wikipedia).
In May 2011 The Offical Association of Pychologists of Aragón (COPPA) organazed a competition for the renovation and extension of their headquarters in Zaragoza. The design has to provide a new versatile space that contains working and administrative areas and common spaces for gatherings, meetings and lectures.
The floor is fragmented in seven spaces with their own caracter, mobible panels comming out from the perimeter system divide or connect those spaces according to the neccesities. This perimeter also contains the storage area for the furniture. The combination of versatile space and mobible furniture brings unlimited possibilities with a few elements as The Tangram does. The daily working areas are grouped near the main facade for lighting and ventilation reasons. .

The historical value of the civil war period building (1939) is a basic consideration, the design enphasizes the first building project showing structure and original tiles and marks the new elements with deliberately different materials. The perimeter cover is a doble-layered system of insolating material and wooden mobible structures. It does not distort the original building materials, improves thermic and acoustic efficiency and contains many functions at the same time (mobible partitions, library, lounge, kitchen, archive, storage, screen, openings, etc.).
The courtyards openings are extended and replaced and the main facade openings just renovated. The gallery is covered with vernacular vegetation. The soffit is composed of cork panels and a modular lighting system. It contains the conduits and can be displayed according to the space necesities. All the furniture is made bamboo wood, with natural finish when it is fixed and lacquered in red color when it is mobible. The combined translucent and transparent glass of the office partitions provides the desired grade of privacy.
