Due to the constantly increasing speed of everyday life higher demands are set on every single one of us. Every third working professional feels exposed to excessive stress. The most common cause of death nowadays is the heart attack.
Visitors of this installation can position themselves in one of the cylinders that are hanging from the ceiling. Inside of the cylinders they get confronted with optical illusions that produce optical movements because of our limited absorption capacity. In each of the seven cylinders an effect of stress is hidden, such as »disorientation«, »lack of concentration«, »disunity«, and so on.
By the solitude and confinement in the cylinders, as well as their own rotation generated by their hanging, the visitors gets brought palpable near to the subject. The resulting »information overload« causes spontaneous but of course only temporar symptoms of a »burn-out syndrome«. During the exhibition this impact was additionally supported by the sound of a heart rate, which was slightly faster than the usual heart rate should normally be.
