For our first project, the class was tasked with creating a set of identity cards. Many steps were involved in the process before arriving at the finished product. First, I created many contour studies of my face, including blind and continuous contours. From these initial drawings I was able to further explore line weights and abstractions, including positive/negative shapes and more playful illustrations. Incorporating type was the next step. Drawing inspiration from existing type, nature and architecture, I sketched out many type studies and incorporated what would fit best with each image. Each card has its own distinct look and expresses a different facet of my quirky personality.
