UN Day (Right to Education)

Some designers based in Albania and Kosovo were contacted to design a poster with the thematic “Youth Nowadays” to celebrate the UN Day, Friday, October 24. Having in my past a Social Studies degree, I wanted since the beginning for my poster to be a denounce of the difficult lives of some portions of the youth here in Albania. It’s very common to find teens in the streets occupying free parking spots with fruit boxes in order to take some money from the people parking there.

So the basic concept is: “What for someone represents a parking spot, for a teen represents his working place”.
I went on the streets, took a picture of the parking spot with a fruit box in the middle, then processed the image to give it some “manual touch/drawing” feeling.
I integrated then my concept inside the image, framed it and completed with an article from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: “Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages.”

The poster was mentioned during the speech of the Ministry of Youth and Welfare Erjon Veliaj at the opening of the exhibition.
