Set Design for TV Advert Animation
I was recently hired to produce background & set designs for an animation advertising running shoes.
The style of the animation was described to me as a black & white anime. The studio wanted backgrounds produced in a style of detailed linework and strong shadows.
Unfortunately, in the end the project didn't go ahead and the artwork was left unused.
I thought it was a shame to let it go unseen so here it is.
I added my own character designs to fill the scene - this was similar to the way the studio wanted the background to be used.

The original sketched layout ideas.
Initial linework and shade added.
Texture markings and bits of graffiti added.
I added a different shade to the walls to add depth and decay.
The studio wanted more of the blank spaces of wall to be filled up so cracks and textural markings were added to help with this.
The original character sketches I came up with to fill the scene.
Character linework polished off and placed within the scene.
