Type and Lettering
This is a collection of lettering and typefaces that I have designed,
and an ongoing exhibit of my personal learning and thoughts.
The work is a mixture of the weird, experimental, elegant and functional.

Entry in The Design Kids #tdkthumbsup type competiton. This competiton looked to get
New Zealands best letterers and typographers to create signs for The Design Kids as they
hitch-hiked across the country. I also created this with sand and blew it away while
recording the process.

Another entry in The Design Kids #tdkthumbsup type competiton.
This was inspired by my upbringing in Napier - the Art Deco capital of New Zealand.
I merged an Art Deco style with a slighty contemporary look to make it more unique.

This was a winner in round two of the competition, which earned it a spot
in an exhibition made up of all the winning designs.

Following the inspiration of my Napier lettering,
I decided to create an Art Deco typeface, with a slight contemporary edge.

TrueType and OpenType formats in development.
Results of a Semi-Permanent Jessica Hische monogram workshop.
Designed with the aim to create a sustainable and enviromentally friendly typeface
that is legible, even when sections are removed to reduce on inks. Currently working on
reducing the weight of the typeface to make it more lean, mean and green.
Created out of curiousity to see if a typeface can be
developed solely from right-angled triangles.
One of my very first attepts at hand lettering.
A tall and elegant and Gothic inspired typeface.
Created using a modular system of right-angled triangles and rectangles to test
the boundaries of what is legible and recognisable as a letterform.

TrueType and OpenType formats in development.
Born from a doodle in a boring meeting.
Originally drawn with a red pen.
Another typeface created using a modular system, using quarter-circles and squares.
Compared to Spaceman, this time I attempted to reduce the amount of detail even further.
