Lithuania Inspired 3piece Collection: Fall 2014

This was my Final project for my Fashion Design Research class. We had to choose a country as the insperation for a three piece collecion. The final presentation includes 1 concept board, 1 fabric/ trim and color story board, and 1 board with the 3 illustrations of the collection. This group of photos show the process from sketchbook concept and research to the final boards.
From there I really dove into textures and colors that related back to the culture. Amber is extremely prominant in the area.
I also began to look into their military, especially from midevil times. The Polish/ Lithuanian Hussar wore an amazing armor decorated with massive wings that protruded from the back.
This lead me to choose my muse. Innitially it was The Archangel Michael (the leader of God's army), but I later changed it to Joan of Arc. I felt that she better represented the kind of girl I would invision wearing my collection.
I wanted the collection to have a avant guarde, couture, Alexander McQueen feel.
I did a lot of research on WGSN trend forcasting site to see the color and fur trends.
I then started sketching some edited versions.
and proceded to add color and fabric choice.
I edited down to my top four. I then combined some of the looks in order to end with my final three.
