TWalkie is a personal research on the walkie talkie for kids. A toy that imitate actual product, with simpler functions and a shorter radio range.

 

Intended for ages 5 and more, easy to use walkie talkie are among the most common toy a kid can have. It allows them to share secrets or make plans with their best friend through distance chats. 

I wanted the shape to represent the essence of real products, it had to show the functionnal elements very clearly in a non-obtrusive way. Each function such as the antenna, the contact button, the volume knob, and the micro/speaker area had to be precisely identified by the user. That is why I used such a color contrast between the main body and those functionnal parts.

With such a simple product, attention must be paid to the texure details that in the ned give a product its identity. In this case texture is also a good way to accentuate functions that require hand contact, it brings more ergonomy and cognitivity.

The color contrast can be adpated in many and fun ways.
