Harmonic Shaper is an audiovisual additive synthesizer created as part of my thesis on synthesis through compound geometric motion. Inspired by visualizations of square and sawtooth waveforms as summations of vectors rotating at harmonically related frequencies, this tool allows for harmonics to be synthesized from vectors that follow the perimeters of quadrilaterals, defined through various vertex transformations. Implemented in Processing, this tool is intended for educational and creative applications, as a multimodal demonstration of the Fourier series and an audiovisual reinterpretation of its math.
