Offering to Demeter II, The Eleusinian Mysteries, hand crafted silver and rutilated quartz ring by Moon & Serpent

Hand carved silver wheats on the front and back, featuring a rutilated quartz gemstone. Rutile is an accessory mineral in high-temperature and high-pressure metamorphic rocks and in igneous rocks. Rutile formed golden needle-like crystal inclusions in the quartz of this ring. They look like pieces of golden wheat.

Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, who presided over grains and the fertility of the earth. She and her daughter Persephone were the central figures of the Eleusinian Mysteries that predated the Olympian pantheon. The Eleusinian Mysteries ( Ἐλευσίνια Μυστήρια) were initiation ceremonies held every year for the cult of Demeter and Persephone based at Eleusis in ancient Greece.
