Departures @ Ushiaïa Beach Hotel, Ibiza 2014
The child of the former Swedish House Mafia members Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso, Departures, is a journey taken beneath the stars of Ibiza and lights of Ushuaïa, where Axwell, Ingrosso and a huge stack of their mates and you get together to celebrate the music we all have in common. They aim to communicate the feeling of freedom and new beginnings to the masses.
In Ibiza the walls are clustered by posters of night clubs, all screaming for the same attention. Resulting in a generic style all look the same, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso figured that they should stand out like no other and commissioned Acid and Marble to redesign their night club identity and visual concept.
The identity reflects the kickoff of their new journey together mixed with the joyful atmosphere of Ibiza. Born out of their original symbol ^, turned into wings, it rises filled with freedom and happiness. The colourful symbol is accompanied by classic and warm yet elegant typography. This combination resulted in a unique expression for the Ibiza Electronic Dance Music scene. The clean typography with the expressive wings made it easy to spot and talk about but above all, to remember.
