Travel infographic poster, visually narrating the trip between my home in Texas and my school in South Carolina.
To the left is the picture of the physical pin-and-string assemblage used; to the right is the digital milestone overlay.
The pin-and-string component is based off of a simplification of the map routes taken on the trip and only includes the longest stretches of travel. To create this part, I mapped out the lines and their placement in an InDesign file, printed it, then used that to place my pins on a piece of foam board. Once the pins were in place, I wove string around them and photographed the board.
The digital label file was made partly before and partly after the pin-and-string portion of the project. As I previously stated, I used the InDesign file to map out the pin placement. Once the pin-and-string part was finished, I took the photograph and imported it in as a layer in my InDesign document and from there added in all the details and paper textures.
