As part of my Masters program, we had a 5 day workshop with the promising Director of Photography Bradford Young (DoP of Ain’t them Bodies Saints, Mother of George, Selma, A Most Violent Year).

 

We had some conversations about the film industry, about how did he get where he is now, his influences, his methods, his tricks and mostly, his passion! He showed us some movies that had great influence on him and then we would analyze it and discuss it.

 

We then went to locations to shoot some exercises where we had to light up a scene with just one light. We did an indoor scene during the day, and an outside one during the night.
Here he taught us some technique, feeling, workflows, concepts on color, lights and shadows, etc. We shot with an Arri Alexa with an exquisite set of Zeiss Master Primes!

 

It was a super productive and inspiring week, where I also think everyone had a great time.
