In the first installment of the 2011 Get Elevated Series, the team meets up at the Skate House in Los Angeles before heading NE into the mountains. After a long drive and by sheer serendipity, they find a driving guide which leads road nestled in the mountain range nearby. Turns out the pavement is super burly and features huge cracks across the road the entire way down. After the impromptu session is over, the team rests their heads in Mammoth Lakes in preparation to skate the area the following day. Days 2 and 3 featured in the next episode.

On our way up to Mammoth Mountain we got side tracked by a map we found at a Carl's Junior back in town. The map disclosed information about nearly every mountain road in the area, including the steepness grade, pavement type, and length...this was a GOLDMINE for downhill skateboarders. This first stop was impromtue, I forgot my tripod in the other car at the base of the hillt & we suffered several casualties. Luckily they were only minor rasberries & road rash...Good first day.
