Faced with the challenge of a new Electric frontier, UTS Motorsports sought out RVLLi Designs to keep pace & commission their expertise to invigorate their team emblem that would encapsulate the essence of this new automotive enterprise. With the Formula SAE competition advocating the use of electric powertrains, the team set out on establishing their visual identity on a foundation of technology & innovation.
The new emblem coincides with the team’s decision to adopt a more advanced powertrain & had to consider the identity of the team for future generations within the university.
The chief feature of the emblem is the central lower case letter “e” that seeks to define a new “Electric” identity, but also represents a marriage of both an electric circuit & the turns of a racetrack. The use of the iconic UTS tower silhouette as part of the emblem’s upper hemisphere, identifies with the university in which the team is located. The electric blue lower hemisphere coincides with the faculty colour associated with the Faculty of
Engineering & Information Technology. Secondary to that, the colour blue also represents Sydney’s coastal location & identifies with the NSW state colour known throughout Australia & its Territories. The chequered flag located on the lower eastern quadrant of the embalm, signifies the pursuit of victory & success – both key components of the UTS Motorsport credo.
The contemporary design is composed within a shield, styled with European automotive influences. This communicates the context of the emblem with the intention of identifying with the Motorsports vernacular.
