Perygl Productions were asked at the beginning year to make a video for the ‘Be A Champion’ initiative on the Lampeter campus which looked at how the London 2012 Olympics affected the community by Abi Carrington.
The result was ‘Be A Champion – Lampeter 2012 Olympics – What’s It About?’, directed by David Roberts with the help of his crew including Greg Fisher, Rokas Baniunas, Alex Cook, Katharine Masson, Rachael Pick and Isaac Powell. This was entered into the Film Nation shorts awards run by Creative England and the London 2012 Olympics and sponsored by Panasonic.

We were shortlisted in the ‘Best Documentary or Experimental (aged 20-25)’ category. David Roberts went down to London on the 4th July to the BFI Southbank for a prestigious red carpet awards ceremony with a host of celebrities including Claudia Winkleman, Matt Horne (Gavin & Stacey), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Eddie Marsan (Gangs of New York, War Horse), Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter) and Joe Dempsie (Skins).

The film didn’t win in the end losing out to ‘I Am London’,  a superb and deserving winner. David said:

‘It was a great experience to be down in London for the awards. To see the BFI and meet all the celebrities was really fun. It gave me a chance to feel what it’s like to be at an awards ceremony and gave me an opportunity to network. Hopefully this is the first of many awards shows. It was an honour to be nominated’.
