Project 1 for Introduction to Graphic Design.
Objective:
To generate creative and original ideas.
To explore how ideas shape design.
To demonstrate competent beginner Illustrator skills.
Rationale:
A simple window latch on a public transportation bus inspired a "sun themed" design.
The first image is the window latch. The second is a pattern inspired by the half-circle and horizontality of the latch. The third image is a reduction of form; by reducing, rotating, and revising an individual component of the pattern, I illustrated the word "sol" ("sun")- tying together both content (windows as access points to natural solar light) and form (the simplified and implied shapes of the sun).
