Lafayette Consolidated Government Health Fair

A bit of my work from Lafayette Consolidated Government.

Lafayette Consolidated Government Health Fair Poster. (11" x 17)
For this poster, my client gave me almost free reign. Besides the text--which was to remain unchanged--she suggested an image that's reminiscent of a fair, and I thought of a balloon. This poster will surely stand out among other text-only and clip art posters; I hope it will inspire department directors to think more seriously about how they choose promote events and services, and to abandon their slightly-cheaper 12 point Times New Roman boilerplate methods.

Envelope Stuffers.
One morning, about a week after I submitted the Heath Fair poster (previous), my client called and asked me to design the envelope stuffers for the fair. In the past, her department would have a secretary type up the message within the size parameters of the envelope, and then deliver it to the print shop. One of the print shop employees would simply scan, print, cut, and send them off to the mailroom.

My client hadn't thought of asking me to design the envelope stuffers until she was juuust about to ask her secretary to prepare them. This gave me only a little more time to create an attractive composition than the secretary would've had to input this text into MS Word, so I needed to think of a quick way to incorporate recognizable elements of the Health Fair poster. The quickest method I could come up with was to multiply the medic cross pattern from the poster, format it for the stuffer, and knock a larger medic cross out of the pattern as a reminder of the large cross from the poster. From there, it was a matter of setting type, treating it with a few strokes and gradients, and then test-printing samples to make sure the cross pattern provided enough contrast for the text.
