About the covers:
 
As Design Editor of The Ubyssey for the 2014/15 year, I was in charge of creative direction for the newspaper. My responsibilities included cover concepts and execution, creative direction of content, and managing 10,000 print copies twice a week. These are 6 of my favourite covers from that time.

Alpine Ski Team:
 
Facing the loss of varsity status, this article talked about the team's struggle. The cover itself conceptualized this idea through the vision of a skier, looking forward towards the mountains ahead, as well as articulated their potential loss through the lack of ski gear present.

Religion On Campus:

Contrary to the popular belief that religion loses steam in the lives on university students, this story presented findings that the opposite is true. The cover illustrates this by shining a new light on a topic that was previously uninformed.

Survey Says:
 
We ran a survey to investigate whether the numbers gathered by UBC's outsourced research were accurate or not. We found somewhat of a disparity in the numbers, the largest being the issue of definition between value in different parts of Vancouver. The cover shows the comparison between the two surveys, as well as conceptualizes both what the survey is about as well as the article's findings.

In an interview with Kim Campbell, we talked about her life as a UBC student and her current political platform. Due to the inability to get a photo, the cover illustrates her time as a UBC student and her path to Ottawa.

With the return of the school year we realized that nothing exciting had happened on campus during the break. Still needing to publish an issue, we decided to make a visually stimulating image to attract readers.

Tuition Raised 10%:
 
After the efforts of many UBC students, international tuition was raised 10%. This cover shows the additional revenue UBC will receive in the coming years due to this increase.
